Well, here we are. Another year has gone by, and Banned Books Week begins tomorrow. September 21-27, 2014.
Listed below are a few recent (and some not-so-recent) books that have been challenged, restricted, removed, or banned this year and last.
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian
The Perk of Being a Wallflower
Are you reading a banned or challenged book to celebrate your freedom to read whatever you want?
I'm reading The Miseducation of Cameron Post, by Emily M. Danforth. It's another one that's been recently challenged. I intended to have it finished by now, but didn't quite make it. I do plan to have it read by the end of Banned Books Week, and should have a page about it on the website soon.
Every day, people are attempting to place restrictions on our freedoms to read whatever we choose. They want to decide what others can and cannot read. We must not let that happen.
